Code and standard updates for the safety of all energy storage systems
While most systems being installed are lithium-ion systems, energy storage technologies are growing at an unprecedented pace - so fast that codes and standards are years behind the pace of these systems. Yet manufacturers and installers must refer to the same UL-rated systems and install to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, regardless of the technology type.
This panel will address how stakeholders from across the industry -- from manufacturers and installers to developers and insurers -- are working together to ensure energy storage safety and that on-the-ground realities are taken into consideration. The panel will also address current codes and recent changes that all installers in the U.S. must adhere to before installing a system.
