Microgrids and the energy transition

Booth #229, Exhibit Hall
Knowledge Hub- New Energy Mix + Microgrids

The trend toward renewable generation and the need for resiliency is motivating the aggregation of distributed energy resources in microgrids and virtual power plants. The generation includes a mix of technologies and fuels: flexible gen-sets, natural gas, photovoltaics, storage and advanced nuclear reactors.

Microgrid solutions have matured and are recognized for benefits, which include resource integration, grid services and backup power. At the same time, microgrids can supply power for new local needs, such as electric vehicle charging plazas.

In this presentation, these trends will be described in the context of the energy transition, the changing regulatory environment, standards developments and techno-economic modeling tools.
