Advancing Decarbonization: Innovations in Flexible Carbon Capture for Combined Cycle Plants
Natural Gas Combined Cycle (NGCC) plants equipped with carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) present a potential option for decarbonization but increasing renewable energy resources complicate their design, operation, maintenance and commercialization potential. These challenges are being addressed by DOE’s FLExible Carbon Capture and Storage (FLECCS) program, which aims to develop CCS technologies enabling NGCC plants to be responsive to variable grid conditions.
New project teams have been chosen as part of the program, with the next phase lasting approximately three years. This presentation will provide an overview of progress by the project teams and discussion of their next steps.
