Leveraging Energy Storage Solutions in Hybrid Power Plant Configurations
Grid operators face challenges in maintaining a reliable and stable power supply, but innovative technologies such as hydrogen-powered gas turbines, flywheels and battery energy storage can be integrated into a hybrid power plant to improve grid reliability.
Through case studies of real UK frequency events and simulation results, this session will highlight developments at the power system level, demonstrating the benefits of integrating these technologies into a hybrid plant with a common plant controller. The session will conclude with a showcase of the world’s first hybrid synchronous condenser, flywheel and battery energy storage plant, along with its groundbreaking impact on grid management.
