Large pumped storage projects are currently under development by several utilities across the United States. This presentation will examine hydroelectric pumped storage as an enabling technology for increased wind and solar incorporation into the U.S. grid. Specific topics include technical, licensing and operational considerations, funding opportunities and development challenges.
