Where Will All the Copper Come From?
Copper is a critical metal of electrification, including for EVs and energy supplies in wind, solar, battery storage, hydrogen and nuclear. As a result, copper demand is expected to double in 10-15 years, significant for a mature market already producing over 25 million metric tons per year.
This presentation will review trends and expectations in the U.S. copper industry. Challenges in copper supply will be highlighted, including those in mining, refining and recycling streams. Presenters will also explain why neither recycling nor mining alone will resolve domestic supply constraints, as both are required to fulfill demands and require support to achieve volume increases.
