Future-Proofing Onsite Generation for Data Centers
As data centers continue to expand, securing sufficient power from the grid has become a growing challenge, driving interest in onsite generation. Many developers are turning to simple-cycle natural gas turbines due to their speed to market and lower upfront costs, but this approach creates exposure to long-term fuel price risk, especially with rising LNG exports and the inefficiency of simple-cycle operations. This session will explore strategies to mitigate those risks during the development phase, including pairing turbines with solar, designing for future conversion to combined-cycle and planning for the potential integration of nuclear. Insights for attendees include how to safeguard their projects against volatility while positioning for long-term resilience.
