Power companies are increasingly using lithium-ion batteries to complement the intermittency of wind and solar. U.S. battery storage capacity has continued to see strong growth in the last year, particularly in the western states. POWERGEN’s education includes a focus on the technical and operational challenges of battery storage, along with safety considerations.

Optimizing Hybrid Energy Systems for Data Center Power
February 11, 2025 | 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM | Room C145
The rapidly accelerating data center market will not be possible without reliable, sustainable and affordable power. In this case study, we’ll analyze a data center’s needs and design a system that balances renewable energy, stable backup power and cost-effectiveness. The presentation of this use case, the various identified energy system designs and the overarching system implications will contribute to the development of more sustainable and cost-competitive future data center power solutions.
