A peer exchange for generation owner-operators. The POWERGEN Fleet Operations Forum is a practitioner-led session designed for the people running generation assets. There is no stage, no presentations and no polished talking points. Designated owner-operators representing utilities, IPPs or electric cooperatives each deliver a state-of-the-fleet presentation, followed immediately by open dialog with everyone in the room.

*The session operates under Chatham House Rule. Attendance is capped to preserve the conditions that make this format work. Available for owner operator all access pass holders only.

Thursday, January 21 | 10:00AM - 12:00PM | Location TBD

Why now

Aging thermal assets are staying online longer than planned. OEM supply chains favor large-volume buyers. Data center load growth is stressing infrastructure faster than interconnection timelines can accommodate. Workforce transitions are creating institutional knowledge gaps at the plant level. Policy uncertainty is making capital allocation decisions harder to justify.

These are the pressures fleet directors and plant managers are managing every day, largely without a format designed to address them honestly.

Topics covered

  • Lifecycle management of aging assets: sustaining equipment that was slated for retirement but is now needed for reliability
  • Capital allocation under regulatory and policy uncertainty: how do you justify investing in an asset with a nominal retirement date
  • OEM relationships and supply chain: navigating long lead times, constrained capacity, and shifting vendor priorities
  • Cycling and ramping stress: operating baseload units in increasingly flexible roles as renewable penetration reshapes dispatch patterns
  • Workforce and knowledge transfer: preserving institutional expertise as experienced plant personnel retire
  • Load growth and infrastructure pressure: managing the reliability implications of data center and electrification demand on existing generation and interconnection infrastructure
