Andrew J. Gonzales is a dynamic leader with over 18 years of management experience across public administration, emergency services, and corporate risk management. As Hazard Mitigation Principal Specialist at Vistra Corporation, he leads fire prevention programs and develops risk management systems, achieving millions in insurance savings through proactive hazard assessments for Vistra fleet of fossil, renewables and BESS. Andrew's background includes roles as Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Marshal/Investigator, where he gained extensive experience in municipal fire services and was named Fire Investigator of the Year for NM. As an HSE Advisor at Occidental Petroleum, he enhanced emergency preparedness, coordinated interagency drills, and developed training programs. Andrew actively supported NM fire departments in securing FEMA grants for critical equipment and served on the Lea County Emergency Management committee, aiding community hazard preparedness. Andrew is completing his Doc

"I think my favorite part of the conference has been essentially the Smarter Power Plant Track. There's been a lot of good [takeaways] for us because our plans are quite old, so there's a lot of manual readings and things, but me being the IT generation, I think it could be done better. So having a lot of these [takeaways] from companies who have [accomplished what] we are wanting to do is great. It's been really eye opening networking with all of the exhibitors [as well].
