Benjamin Thomas
Ben is the Director of Hydrogen Production at Mitsubishi Power Americas, where he leads the Hydrogen Production business unit. In this role, he oversees commercial operations, product management, engineering, and project execution for hydrogen production equipment.
Ben and his team are at the forefront of the Advanced Clean Energy Storage Project (ACES Delta) in Delta, UT—the world’s first purpose-built green hydrogen hub. This groundbreaking project integrates hydrogen generation, salt cavern storage, and utilization in an advanced-class combined cycle gas turbine for 30% hydrogen blending, significantly reducing carbon emissions.
Additionally, Ben’s team is driving innovation in hydrogen technologies, including Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cells (SOEC) for high-efficiency hydrogen production, AEM electrolyzers for cost-effective solutions, and methane pyrolysis for low-carbon hydrogen generation. His team is responsible for both executing the ACES Delta project and commercializing these transformative technologies.
Since joining Mitsubishi Power in 2012, Ben has held a variety of roles within the Power Generation Services organization, contributing to the company’s leadership in energy innovation. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida.
With over a decade of experience and a commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions, Ben continues to drive the hydrogen industry forward.
