Starting with Caterpillar in Alberta, Canada, Carl has enjoyed an extensive career leading energy business development and sustainability endeavors. Prior to joining Wartsila, Carl was Vice President of Nexterra, an innovative renewable energy technology company with strategic partnerships with Johnson Controls, General Electric, and Stantec. In 2013, Carl joined as our General Manager for Wartsila Canada. More recently, Carl was General Manager of our Lifecycle Projects and Agreements for the Americas, supporting customer success from Alaska to Argentina. Today Carl is our Director, of Business Development for the North Region, leading New Build sales in the USA, Canada, and the Caribbean. Operating arm-in-arm with our Growth & Development, Agreements, and Services groups, Carl directs his multi-national team helping customers stabilize utility grids with intermittent wind and solar assets via highly flexible, rapidly dispatchable engine power plants. Recently, these same customers have begun investigating Hydrogen and Ammonia fuels as future zero-carbon alternatives to natural gas. 

Carl possesses a BSc. from the University of British Columbia. He currently resides in beautiful Vancouver, Canada with his wife Laurie and daughter Ava. In his spare time, he is an avid bush pilot, hiker, and motorcyclist, inspired by exploring the wild places of North America with family and friends.
