James Laven is the Co-Founder and CTO of GridEdge AI, and the architect of one of the industry’s earliest operational-intelligence platforms for large-scale AMI deployment. He built the real-time system that unified field operations, metrology events, and device health at Centerpoint Energy—enabling the successful rollout of millions of smart meters before such platforms existed commercially. Subsequently consulting with PECO / Exelon on their Smart Meter/Grid road map.

Today, Dom develops advanced edge-intelligence hardware and software, using AI-vision and embedded reasoning to upgrade legacy control rooms. His work extends SCADA, EMS, and ADMS with high-fidelity sensing and predictive operational insight, transforming grid and plant environments into more resilient, self-aware systems without invasive infrastructure changes.
