Farid Katiraei

Farid is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of extensive experience across 
various facets of power systems, power electronics, and generation / energy storage 
technologies. 
He is currently an Electrical Systems Lead at Meta Platforms, within the Data Center 
Infrastructure team. In this role, Farid focuses on the development of strategies and 
technologies for the next generation of data center infrastructure, including Onsite 
Generation Deployment, Large Load Interconnection Mitigation, and direct current 
distribution solutions. 
Before his tenure at Meta, Farid held multiple executive consulting and senior technology 
positions with Quanta Services companies, where he contributed significantly to 
advancing utility projects, microgrids, and renewable energy sector initiatives. 
Farid holds a Ph.D. in power engineering from the University of Toronto, which he 
received in 2005. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and an active participant in multiple 
IEEE and CIGRE working groups and standards, demonstrating his commitment to 
advancing industry best practices and international standards. Farid is a registered 
professional engineer in Ontario-Canada.
