Jim is an independent consultant focused on the integration of distributed energy resources into the power delivery system. He has extensive experience adopting advanced microgrid concepts to applications that provide energy security, reliability and resilience to the power industry. He is the co-author of studies on grid constraints, congestion management, and power system restoration. Clients include research entities in the US, Europe and Japan, with on-going support for the US DOE Office of Electricity's microgrid program over the past twelve years. He is a co-author of the Advanced Microgrid report, initiator of the Net-zero Carbon Microgrid Project and multiple scoping studies for planning SMR integration in the generation mix for AI/Datacenters. He is the recipient of the IEEE SA Emerging Technology Award for 2024.

There's been a lot of good [takeaways] for us because our plans are quite old, so there's a lot of manual readings and things, but me being the IT generation, I think it could be done better.
