Technology Manager | Advanced Turbines & Simulation-Based Engineering, National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL)

Mr. John Crane is currently the Technology Manager for the Advanced Turbines and Simulation-Based Engineering programs at the U.S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). Prior to joining NETL, John worked at Siemens Energy for 14 years on the development of high efficiency gas turbines with a focus on hot gas path components and associated technologies. His early career centered on development of emissions reduction technology for the H-class combustion system. Later, he led the transformative technology acceleration program that culminated in the 9000HL product family. He joined NETL in 2023 as the Technology Manager for Advanced Turbines to guide the technology development in support of the DOE mission to deliver low-cost and clean electric power.

There's been a lot of good [takeaways] for us because our plans are quite old, so there's a lot of manual readings and things, but me being the IT generation, I think it could be done better. So having a lot of these [takeaways] from companies who have [accomplished what] we are wanting to do is great. It's been really eye opening networking with all of the exhibitors [as well].
