Maria Belenky is a Lead Market Design Specialist at PJM Interconnection where she focuses on flexibility resources. This includes developing market rules for the participation of battery storage in the wholesale market and steering efforts to enhance market models for flexible demand and distributed energy resources, including distribution-connected storage. Prior to PJM, Maria was a Manager of Market Development at OhmConnect (now Renew Home), a California-based aggregator, where she led policy development, review, and compliance efforts around the participation of demand response and DERs in California’s Resource Adequacy Program and the CAISO market. She also served as the lead technical expert on federal clean energy and energy efficiency policy at Climate Advisers, a Washington DC-based consultancy focused on climate change mitigation. Maria holds an M.A. in International Economics and Energy, Resources and the Environment from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies, and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
