Patrick O'Brien

Director of Government Affairs and Communications, Holtec International
Currently serving as Director of Government Affairs and Communications at Holtec International, Pat champions innovation within the global nuclear industry. His path in nuclear began at Entergy's Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, where he managed critical communications during both operations and the transition to decommissioning. Before his current role, Pat oversaw government affairs across five decommissioning sites with Holtec Decommissioning International. Committed to community service, he sits on boards for the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce, Southwest Public Policy Institute, and Plymouth Little League. His thirteen years in Massachusetts state and local government, combined with degrees from UMass Amherst and Norwich University, provide him with valuable perspective on the intersection of policy and nuclear advocacy.

"I think my favorite part of the conference has been essentially the Smarter Power Plant Track. There's been a lot of good [takeaways] for us because our plans are quite old, so there's a lot of manual readings and things, but me being the IT generation, I think it could be done better. So having a lot of these [takeaways] from companies who have [accomplished what] we are wanting to do is great. It's been really eye opening networking with all of the exhibitors [as well]. It's my first time here, but I don’t think it's going to be my last."
