Wayne Bishop
Wayne Bishop Jr. is Executive Vice President of Energy for Clarion Events. Wayne oversees Clarion’s Energy portfolio including POWERGEN, DistribuTECH, DTECH Regional Events as well as the “Factor This” media products. Wayne reports directly to the CEO and is a member of the company’s executive leadership team.
Most recently, Wayne served as Vice President of Industry Outreach and Strategy at Danovo Energy Solutions, a Quanta Services company and Fortune 500 organization. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the electric power industry and is a Senior Member of IEEE.
Wayne is an active leader within the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES), where he has held numerous senior leadership roles. Most notably, he served a five-year term as Vice President of Meetings and Conferences (2019–2024). He has also served as a member of the IEEE PES Governing Board and the PES Executive Committee. Since 2011, Wayne has been a contributing member of the IEEE PES Long-Range Planning Committee, where he helped develop and implement the Society’s long-term strategic plan.
Prior to joining Danovo Energy Solutions, Wayne spent 13 years with OMICRON electronics as Head of Marketing for North America. Earlier in his career, he worked for Doble Engineering Company for nearly 20 years, holding several senior management roles. In 2007, Wayne was appointed by Doble’s Board of Directors to serve on the Executive Committee responsible for brokering the company’s sale to ESCO Technologies.
Wayne is a graduate of Merrimack College, Harvard University, and the Executive MBA Program at Suffolk University in Boston, where he graduated with honors. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, has moderated more than 75 technical and executive panels, and has published articles and papers in leading industry publications, including IEEE Power & Energy Magazine and T&D World.
He currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the School of Engineering and Computational Sciences at Merrimack College and the Advisory Board of IRISS Companies in Bradenton, Florida.
Wayne was born in Brockton, Massachusetts and is a lifelong Massachusetts resident. He and his wife Cherie, with their 16 year old daughter Hathaway and their Chocolate Australian Cobberdog Teddy, live in the suburbs of Boston, MA.
Wayne enjoys spending time with his family, especially watching his daughter play high school varsity basketball. Wayne also enjoys travel, fitness, and is a Peloton enthusiast.
